Outdoor Gear, Clothing and Supplies at the Entrance to Denali National Park!
Locally owned and operated for 26 years.
We are a fully stocked outdoor gear shop, covering all your backpacking, day hiking, camping, boating and outdoor travel needs. We carry a full range of clothing, equipment, accessories and supplies, from camp stoves, cookware and fuels to hiking boots, backpacks and technical outdoor clothing.
We also sell the number one recommended deterrent for aggressive bears; pepper spray designed specifically for bear defense. Bear spray is easy to use and carry and has been proven effective .
We ‘re located at mile 239 Parks Hwy, off Canyon Dr.,
about 1 mile north of the entrance to Denali National Park. You can see us from the Highway on the east side.
We are open during the Summer season only, from mid May to late Sept.

FUELS & SUPPLIES
We stock many types and sizes of the most popular camp stove fuels on the market
LIQUID FUELS
- White Gas: for use in all single or multifuel liquid gas camp stoves and lanterns, sold in gallon or qt. size.
- Methyl Alcohol: for use in all alcohol stoves, sold in 12 oz size bottle (Heet).
CANISTER FUELS
- Butane/ propane mix: sold in 4 oz, 8 oz and 16 oz canisters, these fit all canister backpacking single burner stoves on the market with threaded fittings, all brands are compatible (MSR, Primus, Optimus, Jetboil, etc.). We carry MSR brand isobutane (their 4 oz canister will fit inside a jetboil pot).
- Coleman propane: 16.4 oz cartridge for use with two burner camp stoves, lanterns and heaters.
SOLID FUELS
- Esbit solid fuel cubes: for use with solid fuel stoves or as fire starters.
FOOD
- We carry a wide selection of Alpine Aire and Backpackers Pantry freeze dried meals, 2 person and 4 person servings, Ovaeasy Eggs, the best dried eggs on the market as well as energy bars by Clif Bar, meat bars by Epic, electrolyte drink mixes, coffee packets by the single serving and spices.
MISC
- We stock a variety of mosquito repellants, with Deet as well as Deet free options, and mosquito head nets. Other supplies you’ll find at Denali Mountain Works include: handwarmers, candles, firestarters , storm matches, sunscreen and lip balm, a wide assortment of camp soaps, including Dr. Bronners liquid multiuse soaps, first aid supplies and kits and water proofing supplies by Nikwax for boots, clothing and gear.
CLOTHING
We carry a full line of activewear by Patagonia, Marmot and Mountain Hardwear, from Capilene base layers and quick dry hiking pants to technical shells and insulating layers. We also carry a strong selection of Merino Wool (naturally odor free and moisture managing with a great natural feel against your skin) bySmart Wool and Minus 33. Other brands that add to our wide selection of technical as well as fun Sportswear and apparel include; Prana, Arborwear, Carhartt, Dovetail and Kavu.
GEAR & EQUIPMENT
We stock a wide variety of backpacks, from full expedition size packs to small day packs and book bags. As with most outdoor gear, quality and durability are a must, so we carry premium brands like Osprey, Marmot, Mountainsmith, Hyperlite and Mountain Hardwear. We also carry a wide range of pack accessories and small cases for cameras, binoculars and phones.
EQUIPMENT RENTALS
We rent a selection of gear and equipment by the day or by the week. These can be reserved in advance starting in early May when we open our store office.
